Who am I now? Professional Identity and Work Transitions

Most career support focuses on the external: the CV, the network, the job search. Yet, our own experiences of navigating professional transitions has brought a different set of questions to the forefront: questions about our professional identity:

  • Who am I if I am no longer the role I have held for twenty something years?
  • How do I describe what I do to people when my work no longer fits neatly into a familiar title?
  • Will I be seen as credible or legitimate if I move into a different role, sector or career path?
  • Should I cling onto the professional identity I have spent years building or is it time to let go and explore something new?

Being in-between roles, sectors, careers and the professional communities & lifestyles that come with them can be deeply unsettling. Sometimes we can struggle to let go of our past identities, make sense of what is happening during transition, or imagine what else might be possible.

Professional identities matter, especially when we find ourselves at a crossroads.

The way we see ourselves and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and what our work means, shape how we move through these periods of uncertainty.

These internal narratives influence our emotions, our confidence, our decisions, our willingness to explore, and even our capacity to imagine a different future. They affect how we show up with others and how we interpret change, opportunity, and risk.

When our professional identity feels unclear, misaligned or not yet fully formed, transitions can become far more confusing and difficult than they need to be.

We are offering two 2-hour workshops designed to be attended as a series, but each complete as stand alone learning and development experiences.

  • Workshop 1 Why professional Identity matters during career transitions? Understanding what professional identity is, why it becomes so central during transition, and what is actually happening when we feel uncertain or stuck. Wednesday 8 July, 9.00 London / 10.00 Geneva / 15.00 Bangkok (120 minutes)

  • Workshop 2 – How to transform professional identity during transitions. Moving from understanding to action: exploring and experimenting with new directions and building a path forward. Thursday 16 July at 9.00 London / 10.00 Geneva / 15.00 Bangkok (120 minutes)

Investment:

  • 30 Euros / workshop (approximately 35 USD / £25)
  • 47 Euros for both (approximately 55 USD / £40)
